About Us

Parvarish Parvarish was started with the idea to target malnutrition in the Cachar district by providing support in terms of voluntary donations of food to a Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) child. The project aims to address malnutrition by targeting SAM children who are suffering from poverty. The term ‘poverty’ implies to low income level of the parents as they cannot afford to provide nutritious and healthy food to the child. Therefore, the project is aiming to reduce the number of SAM children in the district who falls in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category by motivating people to contribute through donations in kind (for example, providing nutritious food to a child of BPL category) for a fixed period of time. The donations in kind is to be made willingly by the donor to the parents of the child.

Malnutrition has been recognized as a result of poverty from a very long time. Food insecurity, lack of knowledge on sanitation and hygiene, lack of access to clean drinking water and health services are direct consequence of poverty which in turns leads to malnutrition. It is also compounded by inadequate care of the child and pregnant women due to low income level and lack of access to knowledge on appropriate health seeking behavior.
